With Shun Nagare, kai created another innovative masterpiece of Japanese blacksmithing. By sophisticated design, particular material properties
and a complex technical production process, this range of knives makes
part of an absolute luxury class. The high-gloss polished blades feature a ray-shaped damask pattern.

Combined with the dark gray handle, this effect gives the knife an impressive overall appearance. The blades in this range are made of two different types of steel which are combined with 72-layer damask steel. By superimposing the layers of the two types of steel, the result is a blade with exceptionally durable cutting performance. The series was awarded the German Design Award 2017 Special Mention.

The dual-core blade of the Shun Nagare range is made by kai using an innovative forging process. Two types of steel with different properties are associated with a damask blade of 72 layers. A flexible and resistant VG 2 steel and a particularly hard VG 10 steel make it possible to obtain a hardness of 61 (± 1) HRC. This results in the blades sharp on both sides with extended cutting quality and exceptional cutting edge.

Le manche de forme ergonomique tient bien en main grâce à une ligne arrondie et douce. La soie forgée dans le manche confère au couteau stabilité et équilibre en formant un contrepoids optimal par rapport à la lame. Les manches rivetés, en bois de Pakka gris foncé tacheté, et un placage de bois imprégné très résistant donnent au couteau un aspect chaleureux et de qualité.
